Summary text: An expedition member walks in deep snow towards a belt of broken floes and piled hummocks. This is part of a communication route created on the ice floe between the sailing ships ‘Discovery’ and ‘Alert’. Masts of a sailing ship are just visible over the top of one of the hummocks of ice.
